About the Table-

University Horse Farm – A Piece of Louisiana History

I had the opportunity to salvage some of the remaining wood when the University Horse Farm barn was taken down in Lafayette, Louisiana. I brought that wood back to the shop, milled it, cleaned it up, and started working on something that would give it another life.

I went through quite a few different designs before settling on the final one. Once everything was milled, I had to work with the usable material I had—and let the wood help dictate the design ultimately.

The finished piece is an 8-foot table made from that reclaimed barn wood from the horse farm.

But this one is a little more personal for me. My grandparents worked at the University Horse Farm, so this barn was connected to my family long before I ever started building with its wood.

For me, this is about more than just a table. It’s a small piece of local history, a piece of my family’s history, and an opportunity to give some of that old wood another life.
